Donated and presented to Richard Loller by Tom Bush in 1999.  It was a precious momento of his long gone days of youthful misconduct.  Last given to Ron Beam and retired in 2003 due to the increased participation by genteel ladies and impressionable children.

The Hammer
Award
Est. 2003

Every year a wooden hammer would be made by Steve or Peter and every year it would split.  However, it was just fine for an award to the most deserving male player of that year.  Shown above--Richard and Tom.

Rare photo of Ed (Hammer 2004) setting Kathy (Ms. Volley 2004).
Year 2004
Ed Brown, the quietly efficient backbone of the team for the last several years was chosen for the 2004 Hammer.  Way to go, Ed!

Another archive worthy shot of Ed (Hammer 2004) astounding Steve (Hammer 2003) with his famous levitation of the 7th pathway to knowledge shot.

Abbie holds the gayly wrapped hammer while Steve shows the dentures in pride.
Year 2003
Steve Laughbaum receives the first Hammer Award.  One of the founders of the APVA and still playing after Richard got broke and had to quit.  Steve is the genius behind the award certificates and the trophys.  He is a good man, faithful and true and richly deserves any award we are able to give.

Another happy shot.
Year 2003
Ron Beam receives the modestly
veiled award from young Abbie Morrison.  Since there were young eyes and ears in attendance the rowdy fun and crude jokes about the valued award were subdued.

Later, however, after the young folks left, Ron allows Kathy to satisfy her curiosity about the vaunted icon.  Remember what happened to the cat!

Year 2002
Peter Brush (left) receives
the dubious honor from
Leo Smiley, last year's Mr. Eveready.  On the right the fan's enjoy the unveiled art work (tastefully edited for modesty's sake).
Year 2001
Leo Smiley (left)  was the victim of camera failure at the award banquet, but this simulated photo demonstrates his manly modesty and quiet strength, factors in his winning of this highly prized award .

Year 2000

Mark Morrison (right) coyly
pops the barrel on his newly
won prize, much to the shock
and delight of Leiott.
Year 1999
Richard Loller (left) is overwhelmed with mirth at receiving the first ER
Award.  "I'm touched and humbled," he mumbled.

(Photo at right simulates the actual gifting at the 1999 banquet, the historical photo of which was tragically lost or destroyed.)

Tom Bush (far right), the donor of the trophy, is pleased with the calibre of the recipients thus far. "God bless them, every one," he sighed.
